Trail Among the Trees

Well, it has been getting nicer and nicer outside and spring has finally come.  The weekends have even been pretty great.  With that comes yard work, baseball practice, camping, and photo sessions.    We haven't been doing so well on our mission to hike 50 miles due to the aforementioned activities.  So last night Colby got home from work and suggested a hike after dinner, we all jumped at the chance.  Rockwoods Reservation is only a few miles north of us on Hwy. 109 in Wildwood, MO.  The reservation has about 6 trails to choose from including the 14.5 miles Green Rock Trail.  By the time we got out there, we only had around 90 minutes until sunset, so we chose the 1.5 mile Trail Among the Trees.  It's a partially paved trail with a few rugged non-paved areas, but does have some steep inclines and declines.  Nice views from the top, big rocks, cliffs, some bridges to cross and a steep staircase near the end (depending on where you begin the trail).  Overall, a great quick hike with beautiful scenery that's easy enough for a young family, but challenging enough to get a good workout.

Miles logged = 1.5
Time on trail = 55 min.
Leah's review: "Easy peasy, lemon squeezy"

A nice view.

My sweet boy.

There are numbers from 9 - 1 along the trail counting down the way, depending which way you start.

Blake finally gets to use his new hiking poles!
Leah had to try one too.  Maybe Santa will have to bring her some next year.

Leah walked most of the way.  But she loves the view from dad's shoulders too.

One of the nice bridges.

Posing by a large boulder along the trail.

The steep staircase near the end of the hike.

Love them!
